The Kiss Of Death As An Entrepreneur

As an entrepreneur you can lose many different things. You can lose money, a great employee, a good sales rep, a big deal, a big client, a powerful supplier, a great partner……. You can lose many different things. It’s going to be very painful, it’s going to hurt, it’s going to sting But if you loose this one thing, you are done because this is the Kiss of death.
That Edge is your ENERGY(impetus behind all motion and all activity), when your Energy goes everything else goes….. That’s the Kiss of Death.

That Edge is your ENERGY(impetus behind all motion and all activity), when your Energy goes everything else goes….. That’s the Kiss of Death.In my journey I have had three major losses;

#1. 2010 Attacked in South Africa.

I was attacked in South Africa in March,2010 and robbed of my capital behind Park Station Johannesburg. The only cash that survived was in my inner pocket but please don’t ask me ‘which inner pocket?’

#2. Tomato Farming Loss.

Late 2012, I invested in a commercial scale tomatoes farm project with my great friend Mukelabai Mukelabai. During the reaping time, we could pick 500 crates a week, unfortunately a crate of tomatoes had dropped down to K7 from K150. The K7 could only cover the transport cost to Soweto market, we remained owing workers and some suppliers. A painful loss it was…..

#3. Truck Accident.

Lastly on 24th August,2014 one of my trucks overturned in a tragic accident that led to the closure of my transport company. Just to break it down, I had 8 badly injured people in hospital in need of care and compensation, I had lost over 500bags of Government maize as villagers looted, I had just written a post dated cheque for the 22 tires for the truck and each was costing K3,000 and the worst form of negligence on my side was that the truck was not comprehensively insured at its value meaning I had to meet all the expenses from my pocket. To make it worse FRA could not pay me then for the services I had rendered previously because of their looted maize. This pushed me in a corner and I decided to sale everything and paid all concerned parties, in short I simply lost everything I worked hard for in a single tragedy.

Have Energy & Stay Focused.

Despite these losses, I did not lose the most important thing – The ENERGY. Because of this I remained Determined, Resolute, Focussed, Resilient, full of Faith and Drive despite the heart breaking experiences.
I knew that if I don’t lose the zeal, I would still make it, before long by God’s grace I have led two companies from scratch to being the market leaders in Zambia in their respective fields with over six figure annual turnovers.
Keep Moving Forward.
So friends don’t worry about losses, as long as you still have the Energy (Drive, Passion, Fire….) you will make it. The day you lose your ENERGY then you would have KISSED DEATH AS AN ENTREPRENEUR…..
